There’s been huge hype around Lean Startup lately. And with good reason – it’s transformed the way that entrepreneurs, investors and startups look at the world. But what about the hundreds of millions of established companies that aren’t startups? Can the Lean Startup magic work for them too? For the past few months, I’ve been finding out.
A bit of background: I’ve been involved in Lean Startup in London for about 18 months now, and I’m especially interested in the UX side of things (something that’s starting to gain traction in itself). But a client recently asked me to try and adapt some Lean Startup thinking and practice for use in an established online business.
Over the coming weeks and months, I’m going to write up what I learned and look at some of the pitfalls that you might come across if you try to bring Lean Startup practices into an established business. It’s not easy – but I think what I’ve learned can help you to make it work. I’d love to hear from you if you’ve tried something similar.
