Getting UX right isn’t rocket science (or even rocket salad). It’s mostly about turning your perspective inside out, so that you start seeing the world from your users’ point of view.
So “User Experience” starts with understanding users.
So let’s start with that: Who will use your product?
Spend some time thinking about that question. (And if your first answer is “everybody” – think again. There’s no product in the world that everybody uses. Designing for everybody = designing for nobody).
And as a bonus question: Who won’t use your product? (Working out who you’re not designing for is really helpful too and will save you a lot of time and money).
